Using Find & Replace, we can identify all the cells with a strikethrough format and apply a specific color to them.

Once the cells are highlighted, we can easily filter them based on the applied cell color, leveraging Excel’s built-in filter feature.

For example, in the dataset below, column A contains some cells with the strikethrough format, and our goal is to filter only those cells.

While Excel doesn’t offer a direct option to filter strikethrough cells, we used the Find and Replace feature to locate them and then applied a color. This enabled us to utilize Excel’s built-in Filter by Color option, allowing us to filter all the cells with strikethrough formatting.

How can I filter cells with strikethrough formatting in Excel?
  • Excel does not have a built-in feature to directly filter strikethrough cells. However, you can use a workaround with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) or the Find and Replace feature.
  • Yes, you can undo strikethrough formatting by repeating the above steps and unchecking the Strikethrough option in the Font tab.
  • Unfortunately, there is no built-in method that is easier than this. Using VBA or the Find & Replace method is the easiest solution.
